Our Green Atlanta

This Sunday, July 5th, Moore’s Farm & Friends (a CSA -community supported agriculture organization – servicing the metro Atlanta and Decatur areas) will be hosting an Open Farm Day from 11 a.m. EST until whenever! Below are details from their weekly email:

We’ll be grilling a selection of our local pasture-raised meats and vegetables and we’ll have watermelon slices and Sparkman Dairy Ice Cream! Bring a dish to p-ass and enjoy the feast with our Online Market Members, local farmers and food producers, friends, neighbors and family. Members can bring a party of 2 adults and 4 kids at no cost. Non-Members are $5 per person for meal costs. Bring a chair and whatever you would like to drink. We’ll have a farm tour, show you where we pack all of our orders for delivery each week and have a market set up if you want to take some goodies home. Reservations are required as we expect a big crowd. Please add a ticket to your order for the total number of Members attending (listed in the Special Events Section) or if you’re not ordering this week send us an email to RSVP. DO NOT Mapquest us for driving directions, you will not get accurate information. We will email you directions with your RSVP confirmation. We are about 90 miles from Atlanta. Hope you can come out to see us!

This just in! We are thrilled to announce that we will have live music for the 5th.

Red Ruckus and The Tag-Alongs serve up old Time tunes on guitar, stand-up bass, fiddle, banjo.

Members may remember Auburn grad student Mecca Lowe who worked with us some here on the farm this Spring for part of her thesis. She and her husband Adam Lowe and friends Joni and Ashley Carr play together in this authentic quartet.

Mecca and Adam recently bought an old farm in West Georgia and are planning to start production this year. What a treat to have them entertain us on Sunday!
